As always, post due by midnight Sunday, 9/28.
This may sound strange, but your homework is to watch one episode of television. Yes, I know--super weird for English class, but nevertheless, stay with me. As you watch this one episode of television, create a list of the decisions that characters make and what their outcomes are (rewards, consequences, results, etc.). Then, analyze what types of ethical decisions these characters are making (ethics by survival, ethics by instinct, ethics by reward outcome, or ethics by consequences). How do the potential outcomes make the characters' choices difficult? If you are having trouble finding a television show, there are several free episodes available at hulu.com. Please let me know if you do not have access to a television or online content, so I can provide you with an alternative.
Once you have posted your show and its description, its list of characters, their decisions, their outcomes, and their types of ethical decisions, you are not finished. Comment on at least one other classmates' choice of television show and determine whether he or she accurately labeled the choices described. Could one of the choices have really been ethics by reward outcome rather than ethics by consequence? Describe how it could work in both categories.
Blog post due by Sunday, 9/14 at midnight.
Enjoy your super long weekend without a blog post. I was incredibly impressed with your hard work preparing for The Great Walmart Debate, and Debate Quidditch was so out-of-this world that you folks deserve a little break. See you Tuesday (when a new blog post will be up for next week).
Say hello to your new blog!
